Pantheon School

Pantheon School is the homeschool Daniel and Christine Williams have run for their two sons since 2020. Now we're opening parts of it to other homeschool families in Hampton Roads.

A temple drawn from school things: four pencils for columns, a ruler for a beam, an open book in the roof, and sticky notes for science, history and coding between the pencils.
The temple stands on three books for steps: writing on top, then reading, then math.

Our approach

Math, reading, writing and problem-solving are the core, and everything else builds out from there. We chose each subject and curriculum to support that. Every homeschooling family begins their journey for a number of reasons. For us, we started with a firm belief that we could educate our kids better than the public schools, and we wanted as much time with our sons as we could get while they're young. Homeschooling lets us travel, spend time with family and build the life we want together.

What we teach

  • Math: Dimensions Math (Singapore Math), which builds number sense by moving from hands-on objects to pictures to written problems.
  • Reading and spelling: Logic of English, which teaches the sounds and spelling rules behind English words so reading and spelling make sense together.
  • Writing: Essentials in Writing, with short video lessons in grammar and composition, from sentences and paragraphs up to essays and research projects.
  • Science: Real Science Odyssey, with a hands-on lab in every lesson, using mostly everyday materials.
  • History: History Quest, which reads like a chapter book, with discussion, writing and map work.
  • Coding: Homeschool Coding, which started as Coding with Dad. The boys moved from ScratchJr and Scratch to building for the web, and now use GitHub, Blender and coding agents. See the class →

Beyond the books

  • Brazilian jiu-jitsu, twice a week, and boxing, once a week
  • Homeschool PE, two to four times a week: sports, agility and free play

How we run our homeschool

The Tracker

Our homeschool runs on the Tracker, a planner we built ourselves. A curriculum comes in as photos of the book's pages, and the Tracker lays out one lesson for each school day of the year. When a week doesn't go to plan, with a day off, a week away or a subject worked ahead, every date after it moves to fit. It keeps the hours and test scores too.

It's built for our family today. If you'd like to hear when other families can use it, join the coding interest list.

The Tracker's teacher's desk screen, loaded with made-up demo data: a student file for each of two invented students, Jamie and Riley, listing their books. Every book is marked with a "made-up rows" badge and shows no lessons done yet.
Shown with demo data, not a real student.
